Danielle & Eric / Castle Island Sunrise Engagement

Whenever the weather permits, when we have that precious free time, Castle Island is our go-to place to spend an afternoon. Annie (our dog) loves it too, since it’s one of the few places in Boston she’s able to run freely off-leash. The park naturally happens to be a favorite spot of ours for engagement sessions, too, given the beautiful variety of water, greenery, and even urban elements.

This past winter was an odd one – we didn’t get nearly as much snow as we did last year, but trying to plan for photos has been difficult with the unpredictable weather. When the forecast gave us “clear skies” for a several hour window, we jumped on the chance to bring Danielle and Eric out for a session, bright and early. It’s no secret that despite not being the earliest of risers (normally), and we love a good stay-in-bed morning, we are the biggest proponents of sunrise sessions. Out here on the east coast, the light is fantastic in the morning, and there are way fewer people out and about getting in our way for photos. It just makes things way easier, you know, aside from the waking up at 4:30/5 to catch a 6:30 AM sunrise thing. These guys were happy to oblige, even given their commute to get to us all the way from Rhode Island, and we’re so happy they did. The skies didn’t clear up like the forecast had predicted, but it gave us something better – a textured overcast. An early sun hitting the underside of a sheet of clouds is gorgeous, and we were lucky to catch it with these guys.
