California is special to us, you know, because we’re from there… We grew up around the golden hills and the glorious redwoods, but it’s always a completely new perspective when the cameras come out to capture an awesome couple. These two are getting married over here in the Northeast, but what a coincidence, they were visiting California the same time we were, and a late afternoon engagement at Muir Woods was a pretty easy decision.
The tricky thing about such a beautiful location is that it’s always packed. It literally took us about an hour to park our cars in a remotely nearby location and then walk a mile to the park, and another 30 minutes just to find these two, given the complete lack of cell phone reception. That said, we’re definitely spoiled with our 24/7 connectivity most of the time, and it’s refreshing to be away from the constant notifications.
The session was killer. Toward the end of the day, the hikers were all on their way out of the woods to avoid getting caught in the dark. We still had to pause every so often to get our photos clear of other trekkers, but for the good chunk of our time there, we had the trail to ourselves. After the photo hike in the woods, we had to visit the beach, where we caught the magical light of a California sunset.
