Katherine & Callum / Toronto Destination Engagement Session

Toronto-Destination-Engagement-Portraits (8)

Cal is a kickass Toronto based wedding photographer whom I had gotten to know in an online wedding photography forum (where he happens to also be a fellow moderator). He and Katherine had booked us earlier for their wedding, and there had been talks for the two of them to come down to Boston for a possible engagement session. Those plans ended up falling through, but when the topic of Canada Photo Convention 2015 in Toronto came up, we decided that the trip up would be a perfect time for an engagement session up in their neck of the woods across the border.

It’s a unique experience photographing a fellow wedding photographer; the process is both nerve wracking – being judged by a peer on the spot, but it’s also so much fun working with a couple that has a little experience with the coordination and flow of a shoot… though Cal is maybe just a little more used to being on the other side of the camera. Maybe.

Just have to add – that pup up at the top of this post was incredibly sweet!

Cal and Katherine were awesome enough to wake up at the crack of dawn, just how we like our portrait sessions, so that we could drive out to the beach right at the brisk tail-end of fall. Autumn sunrise, no one else in sight. This was an absolutely gorgeous Toronto morning. It was so easy to work with these guys, and you could not ask for a more relaxed couple. We had a great session at Woodbine Beach, got some brunch, and not before we stopped by one last spot with a peek at the Toronto skyline, I was back on a plane home. It won’t be too long before we’re back up in Toronto for this wedding, so keep an eye out.
