Every single one of our couples is incredibly important to us. When we say that we love wedding photography, it’s really not just the art and creativity or the problem-solving and technicality that we love – we also thrive on connecting with our clients on a very personal level. After all, here we are, photographing so many people on (hopefully) the happiest days of their lives; we have to try and get a sense of who they are in order to effectively document and portray that.
It was easy for us with these two, though. Both of us have known Cerina since high school, and we even all went to college together. We’ve spent late nights hanging out, watching movies, …occasionally studying together. Cerina and Brian have been together for almost as long as we’ve known her as well, so this one is really special to us.
We originally planned this engagement session around Lake Chebacco in Hamilton, Massachusetts. Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, Charles River, etc are all classic and beautiful around Boston, but we felt like going somewhere new. A quick Google search for lakes around us, and Chebacco Lake popped right up. Sweet. After a 40-minute drive to the lake, our problem quickly became apparent – much of the lake is surrounded by private homes. No problem. We took advantage of a stretch of woodsy trail along the water, and moved onto our 2nd option, Manchester-by-the-Sea.
It was fantastic to be able to kick off our shoes and feel the fine sand between our toes, but going to the beach in May in New England is always an interesting proposition. It’s beautiful out, there’s not too much sun or humidity, but the water’s also freezing. For some of these photos, Cerina and Brian were kind enough to freeze their feet off for us. We spent the remainder of our afternoon exploring the ½ mile beach, climbing some slippery rocks, and of course capturing a beautifully soft sunset just as we were wrapping up.
We’ve witnessed numerous weddings over the past few years, but within our own personal circle, we were also the first to get married. These two friends of ours have their wedding day coming up in the next couple months, and it’s going to be wild documenting such an amazing day for someone so close to us.
