Jem & Alex / Central Park Bow Bridge / New York City Destination Wedding

Jem and Alex are from the United Kingdom. They have always wanted to travel to NYC together, and their wedding elopement was the perfect opportunity. They’re an awesome couple (seriously, look at her shoes and tattoos!). We met online after they had made their decision to do this in New York, and not too long after, I made plans for a redeye Greyhound ride from Boston to NYC. Whoo!

The morning of, weather forecasts didn’t bode well, with Dark Sky predicting showers every few minutes with only brief stops. Jem even found an umbrella matching her dress! The rain magically stopped (only temporarily) when we got to Bow Bridge, and the sun even peeked out briefly during the ceremony! There was only a small group (Jem and Alex, two of their closest friends, and the wonderful officiant, humanist chaplain Beth Lamont), but that didn’t stop crowds (yep, crowds) of people from gathering. At one point a small group of French tourists settled right next to us to catch some pictures as well!

Of course, those predicted showers kicked in just in time for the portraits, but that definitely didn’t stop us from having plenty of fun. Thank you so much, Jem and Alex for having me at such a momentous occasion in your life; it was incredible meeting you guys!
