We’re finally getting around to writing up our retrospective look at 2013 – yes, yes, it’s already February, but we really wanted to do this right. It’s hard to call this monster of a post a “best of 2013”-type thing, since “best” is too hard to quantify given all of our experiences involved in creating them, but we’d also be lying if we told you that these weren’t some of our favorites (attached to some of our absolute favorite moments). Here’s a glimpse into our growth and change in 2013.
We hit the ground running in 2013, on the first sun of the new year, with a beautiful surprise proposal. Engagements and couples make up so many of our sessions, and there seriously is no better way to get to know a couple, especially before the excitement and stress of their big wedding day.
Nothing gets us more hyped up than waking up and going to a wedding. Not only do we get to spend the day with a couple (and their friends and family) on the biggest, most important day of their lives, we get to be the ones there to document this incredible experience. There’s just something so great about telling a couple’s story, and showing them afterwards exactly how amazing the day was from our point of view.
Of course, we also had side projects – working with some amazing performers and professionals to capture their talents.
But, we’re mainly wedding photographers (and we love it).
We also got to meet a few special people trying to change the world – truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.
But really, weddings are the heart and soul of what we do.
Perhaps the biggest event of our year – it was a long time coming, but we finally got engaged ourselves. We traveled so much, and saw so much of the world that we hadn’t experienced before. We ventured through the heart of America and trekked through Europe, and ultimately made our move from St. Louis to Boston, where we plan to stay for years to come.
2013 was a crazy year – so many things happened, we made huge changes in our lives, and we never stopped growing. We’ve shared so many experiences (ourselves, and with all of our amazing clients and couples), and they’ve all played a role in shaping us, both as photographers and as people.
Looking forward to 2014, we’re in the process of planning our own wedding, which, thanks to all of our experiences with our couples, is not such a foreign process to us at all. We also look forward to being on the receiving end of an amazing wedding photographer’s camera. We’ll be traveling so much as well, first to Mexico for an awesome workshop with an awesome photographer, and we can’t wait to list out all the places we’ll be visiting after we get married.
Of course, just to make things all the sweeter, we couldn’t be more excited for the weddings we have lined up in 2014, and we cannot wait to show them off here.
